Plan for the Establishment of the World Artpiad Committee

Overview of the Establishment

The ancient Olympic Games, discontinued after 393 AD, were revived as the modern Olympics in 1896 through the dedication of Baron Pierre de Coubertin.

Although the Olympics later included harmony between art and sports, fairness disputes in the art competitions at the 1936 Berlin Olympics led to the arts disappearing from the Olympic stage after the 1948 London Olympics.

Artpiad aims to revive the fundamental Olympic spirit of human development through harmony between mind and body by restoring the Art Olympics.

The AAC will rename the Art Olympics as Artpiad and, in collaboration with the DARI Foundation, establish the World Artpiad Committee to host the World Artpiad Competition in 2027 following the Asia Artpiad Competition in 2026.

Establishment of the WAC

Europe and Asia will work together to establish the World Artpiad Committee to host the World Artpiad Competition, making full use of Korea’s national and Asian competition experience as well as online methods.

The world competition will be held over three years by building an online voting system open to people worldwide and a process that enables fair participation by artists.

By fully leveraging the know-how and experience of establishing and operating the AAC, the competition will position itself free from fairness disputes, and the pursuit of beauty through Artpiad participation will continue to expand the horizons of art.

  • Europe and Asia leading together.
  • Host the World Artpiad, an Art Olympics comparable to the sports Olympics.

Conclusion on the Establishment of the WAC

The World Artpiad Competition will be positioned as a global art competition distinct from biennales and commercial art fairs. It will serve as a stage for established artists and a gateway for emerging artists, helping the world develop more peacefully and harmoniously through art.

The hosting of the World Artpiad Competition and the establishment of the World Artpiad Committee (WAC) will be pursued through cooperation and solidarity between Europe, a traditional cultural powerhouse, and Asia, home to 60% of the world’s population and emerging as a new cultural center.

The World Artpiad Competition will grow beyond the aesthetic value of art into a field that provides social and cultural energy, leading humanity toward higher levels of intellect, emotion, and coexistence.
